ISEE Online Course: Mixtures

Mixtures Course sponsored by ISEE's Capacity Building and Education Committee

Environmental epidemiology studies increasingly evaluate multiple exposures, in recognition of the fact that human populations are exposed to a wide range of chemical and non-chemical stressors, which may affect common health outcomes. However, the choice of study design and analysis methods to evaluate health effects of mixtures requires careful consideration and depends upon the specific research question and characteristics of the study population. This session will introduce the concept of mixtures research in environmental epidemiology, some of the key considerations for researchers, and overview commonly encountered statistical methods. The course is designed for individuals with some exposure to epidemiology, having taken at least one basic course in the subject.

The course will be conducted as a series of online webinars spread over 4 months (starting from February 2025). Each webinar will consist of three sessions: one theoretical session (recorded) and two practical sessions (synchronous). To accommodate multiple time zones and ensure maximum accessibility, the two practical sessions will be scheduled on different dates and times.
